A runaway MTA bus rolled for blocks down a Brooklyn street, hitting nearly a dozen parked cars and a church early Wednesday and sending one man who had been changing a tire leaping out of the way to save his life, officials said.
New York City police say the driver of the bus got out of the vehicle at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in Bushwick, but left it in neutral. The bus then rolled backward down the street, smashing into 10 parked cars before striking a church.
No passengers were on the bus at the time.
